Last night’s booking was the wedding reception for newlyweds Anna and Jake. It was a wonderfully rural affair – a beautiful bohemian marquee overlooked by Kilnsey Crag in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Anna & Jake asked for the Bryan Ferry classic Let’s Stick Together for their first dance. Not a song that we Long Players had played before, but we’re always up for learning new rock & roll. The best thing about this particular tune was that it finally gave Long Player Lee the kick he needed to get his saxophone skills unleashed on the world. Let’s Stick Together’s opening sax riff comprises a single, solitary note, which is just about within his capabilities.
If Jake & Anna’s dancing, and the heaving dance floor that developed after they’d had their moment together was anything to go by, then Lee’s playing appeared to be most saxisfactory. Let’s Stick Together makes a welcome addition to our extensive song list (listed on our music page).
Look out for more saxophone infused rock and roll music coming to a wedding near you in future. Perhaps yours?
